Treatment Programs

A full continuum of evidence-based care for lasting recovery.

ELYS Rehab offers comprehensive treatment programs designed to meet each individual where they are. From medical detox through outpatient care, our clinical team provides personalized, evidence-based treatment at every stage of recovery.

Medical Detox

Medical detox at ELYS Rehab runs three to seven days in a dedicated wing of our Artesia Boulevard campus. Admissions arrive around the clock — a nurse completes vitals and comfort medication within the first twenty minutes, before any intake paperwork begins. The goal of that first day is simple: make the body safe enough for the next day.

Our medical team uses established withdrawal protocols for alcohol, opioids, benzodiazepines, stimulants, and polysubstance cases. A board-certified addiction physician is on site daily; nurses are on the wing twenty-four hours. We monitor vitals every two hours through acute withdrawal, then taper to four-hour checks as stabilization holds.

Detox is not treatment — it is the corridor that makes treatment possible. Patients typically transition directly into residential care on day four or five, carrying the clinical trust built during detox into the longer work ahead.

Residential Treatment

Residential care at ELYS runs thirty to ninety days across 38 beds. The structure borrows from academic rhythms — because the patients who recover most durably tend to respond to learning-focused days. Mornings are reserved for psychoeducation, addiction science workshops, and workbook exercises. Afternoons shift to clinical depth: individual therapy, trauma-focused modalities, and experiential work in the greenhouse, barn, or pool.

Rooms are shared doubles or singles depending on clinical and insurance factors. Every resident is assigned a primary therapist, a case manager, and a peer mentor from our alumni network. Weekly progress is reviewed in a clinical rounds meeting attended by medical, psychiatric, and therapy staff.

Outpatient Program

Outpatient care at ELYS covers three distinct tiers and supports both step-downs from residential and direct admissions from the community. Each tier is clinically full — not a lighter version of residential, but a different modality suited to a different phase.

Partial Hospitalization (PHP)

Two to four weeks of six-hour clinical days, Monday through Friday. PHP is designed for patients who no longer need overnight care but still require medical oversight and a full therapeutic schedule. Lunch and two group sessions remain part of the day.

Intensive Outpatient (IOP)

Eight to twelve weeks of three-hour sessions, three or four days per week. Evening IOP tracks run 6 to 9 p.m. so working professionals, college students returning to classes, and parents can continue treatment without stepping away from responsibilities.

Standard Outpatient

Weekly individual therapy, monthly psychiatric follow-up, and alumni group access. Standard outpatient is the maintenance tier that sustains recovery for months or years after the more intensive phases end.

Dual Diagnosis

Roughly seven of every ten patients who walk into ELYS Rehab carry a second diagnosis alongside substance use — depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, or an unresolved trauma history. Treating the addiction alone leaves the trigger architecture intact, which is why every admission receives a psychiatric consult within forty-eight hours.

Dr. Benally and the psychiatric team coordinate with the therapy staff in shared rounds three times a week. Medication adjustments, therapy modality selections, and trauma-focused work are sequenced together so that one track does not undercut the other. EMDR, DBT skills groups, and somatic regulation sessions are all available to dual-diagnosis patients as clinically indicated.
